Crafty Designers' Day at Craft Junkie Too - EASTER Projects!

Well hello all and Happy Spring!!  Can't believe it's here already!  Everything is blooming here in NC and the weather is crazy warm!  We'll soon be getting up for sunrise service, eating lunch, and hunting eggs on Easter day!  It's always a great day for me and my family!  And most importantly, it's a great day for what Easter presents......that our Savior Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins and arose from the grave.....and for all of those who believe in Him, will have His glorious promises of eternal life!  Amen!
So of course, Easter is the inspiration for our next challenge/theme for Crafty Designers Day at Craft Junkie Too! We were asked to create an Easter project.....but not a card.....any 3D items.....baskets, home decor, eggs, banners, etc.

crafty designers

Well last year I really out did myself in creating these cute-cute baskets for Easter!  They were my first ever 3D project/favors and I loved them and so did everyone else! Heehee!

Well, I wanted to do something different this year, but sort of the same for Carley's daycare class again.  So I decided to do another basket just bigger, but decorate what was INSIDE it this time! Ha! :)  So I made these cute Dum-Dum sucker flowers!  I just threw a few flowers and a leaf together and voila!

I used the Sweet Treats cartidge to cut the yellow, pink, and purple flower layers.  I used the Winter Wonderland cartridge to create the leaf layer.  I then used my Inkadinkado "Good News" stamps which were perfect for the occasion!  :)  I then punched a hole in the center of all of them for the Dum-Dum to fit through.

I thought they made perfect little bouquets!  :)

And well I know I said I was gonna decorate the INSIDE of the baskets, well you know me......I'm not gonna leave them plain!!!!  :)  I used the Sweet Treats cartridge again to create this basket.....I used the Fit to Page option which cut it at 11".  It was a nice size for what I needed.

So I printed the verse, Luke 24:7 onto yellow cardstock 6 times, then cut them out and rounded the corners.  I used dimensionals to attach them to one of the sides.

I used a cute jellybean ribbon to create a handle for each basket and simply stapled each end to the sides.  On the one above, you'll notice it's a little different, but I figure I can do that for my Carley.  (I actually ran out of the cute ribbon I was using for her classmates' baskets since I was doubling them for sturdiness.)  I cut two different cute tags(cards) from the Doodlecharms cartridge.....one with a bunny image and the other, a basket image  I used these to cover up the stapling and to just jazz up the sides of course.  And as usual, I put "From: Mommy" on Carley's basket and "From : Carley" on the others on the little eggs I cut also from the Doodlecharms cartridge.

On the opposite side with a bunny 'card' covering up the staples, I added each child's first initial and just used the bunny cutout from the card as decoration!  :)  I cut these from the Sesame Street Font cartridge.

For example, this one's for Thatcher and the one below is for Eden!

Below is the basket filled with grass & goodies and the Dum-Dum flower bouquets I made!

Here are all 6 of them!  Aren't they so colorful and cute!  :)  I cannot wait to give them out!
Carley's class is so much fun....they are all around the age of 2 and they are just a trip!  They get so excited over the least little things and it's so much fun!  They'll be having a party on April 5th and I can't wait to take these baskets of 'eggs' and 'flowers' that day!  I've printed them some coloring pages as well as they all seem to LOVE to color too!  Should be a fun day for all!

I hope you and your families all have a blessed Easter!

Luke 24:7

Crafty Designers' Day at Craft Junkie Too - SPRING!

Hello everyone!!  Well, it's almost Spring!!!!  yep, I said Spring.....hard to believe already!  However here in NC, we've had the crazzzziest weather.....one day it's 30 something and the next it's almost 80 degrees!  So yes, it's actually felt like spring some days, but I'm sure we have another month or so of cool weather.  But I surely cannot wait for spring!  We actually already had blooming daffodils last week....yes, in February!!  Like I said.....crazy!  :)

But Spring is the inspiration for our next challenge/theme for Crafty Designers Day at Craft Junkie Too! We were asked to create something represents Spring - flowers, new growth, etc....you get the idea.

So for this challenge, I decided to do a layout since I have so few of them completed!  I have soooo many ideas for layouts and even envelopes with pics in them and other memorabilia but they just haven't made it onto a page yet. :(  Poor Carley will be in school before I even get some of these pages done!
<Big sighhh>

Well onto my layout.....well Carley loves Sesame Street of course and so I decided to this layout using the Sesame Street Seasons and Font cartridges.  I loved the image of Big Bird chasing the butterfly with a net and of course love hearing Carley say "Big Buwrd"!  LOL

Of course, all of these pics are 'sweet memories' as noted by the metal embellishment....(I love that the little Hawaiian looking flower matches the ones on her little jacket!)

While we were outside that day, 4/15/2011 (she was 16 months old) we were checking out the tulips that had bloomed and she found herself a stick to play with....I called it her 'walking stick'!  LOL

On the bottom pic (above), she decided that she needed to rest on the front porch steps and posed to say "Cheeeeez".  Love that kid!!  :)

She was definitely enjoying her "walking stick"!  :)

Here, she had shed the jacket and picked one of the early bloom roses....I told her to smell it and she got this quirky little face!   Too funny!

Well I was glad to have completed another "Carley LO".....since I have so many of them to create! :)  Thank you so much for visiting today....hope you don't forget to check out the other creative ladies from Craft Junkie Too .

Happy Crafting and God Bless!

Crafty Designers' Day at Craft Junkie Too - Green & Gold!

Hello everyone!
It's nearing the end of February already and soon it will be St Patty's Day! :)  And this holiday is the inspiration for our next challenge/theme for Crafty Designers Day at Craft Junkie Too!  We were asked to create something with the colors Green & Gold in honor of St Patrick's Day coming up in a few weeks!  Well, I started to create a "lucky" project, but instead created some birthday cards for my grandparents!  They are in their "golden" years so it was appropriate I thought!  :)

So my grandfather's birthday was Feb 1st and my grandmother's is today!  :)  Happy Birthday to you both!  I love you very much!  So onto my cards....

I know my grandfather's birthday was first, but I must go with ladies first, right??  :)  So this is the card I made for my grandmother......she loves to knit, crochet, paint, and all sorts of crafty stuff.  I guess you could say that she is my inspiration when it comes to crafting......even though she is 85, has COPD and is on oxygen, she still is on the go when she can and is always making something beautiful.  For example, she has made me a slew of little flowers to use in my projects and they are so special to me!  But I know, I know....onto the card! :)

I used the Country Life cartidge for the images on this card and printed the sentiment for the inside.

I finished it off with some cute brown ribbon and a bow!  I also added a strip of the coordinating paper from the card to the envelope after punching it with my Martha Stewart Doily Punch.

Then for my grandfather’s birthday, I of course made a card suited for him too……one my childhood memories with my grandparents was going fishing.  He's 87 now and doesn't go fishing anymore, but I knew he'd like this card.  Both of them actually loved to fish and they’d take me fishing with them on their boat when I was a child.  I haven’t gone fishing in so long……gonna have to do that soon with Carley especially! Can’t wait until it gets warm here in NC!  :)

But for his card, I used the Celebrate With Flourish cartridge for the main image and the Creative Memories Stork’s Delivery for the sentiment tag shape. I added some gold to the reel too!

I used some $1 stamps I had and inked everything in brown and blue then I printed the sentiment for the inside on my computer. For the envelope, I used my Creative Memories fish punch to add some from the coordinating pattern paper.  He loved it!

Thanks so  much for stopping by and don’t forget to check out the other Crafty Designers’ green & gold projects!

A little early.....but

Crafty Designers' Day at Craft Junkie Too - Hearts!

Hello everyone!  Well February seems to be flying by doesn't it?  Next week is Valentines' Day and love is in the air!  Haha!  :)  Well, today's theme for the Crafty Designers Day at Craft Junkie Too was create a project with a "heart" on it!

I've been wanting to make this project for a few weeks now; (actually wanted to enter it into the Word Art Wednesday's Challenge but it didn't happen) and I am so glad now that I made it anyway and incorporated a "heart" into it!  This project definitely touches my heart and seems like it was just yesterday that I was praying for God to give me a child and now my bundle of joy is 2 years old!  This is a picture of Carley now (well actually taken right before her 2nd birthday - Dec 15th!).

My little angel......well most of the time!  ;)

But in the picture above, she was only a day old!  (And yes, her hair was black when she was born and now it's not! ha! :)  Crazy how that happens!)  But I decided to decorate this frame and show how much I love her! I incorporated a verse from 1 Samuel....."For this child I prayed; and the Lord hath given me my petition which I asked of Him."  1 Samuel 1:27  KJV

Behind the verse, I used some crinkled pressed grass paper for a layered effect.  On the verse, I used my pinking shears to trim the edges and inked them with brown ink.  Then I used glossy accents and some glitter glue to stiffen the cardstock and used pop-dots for dimension.  Below, I used the same cardstock, ink, glitter glue & pop dots and typed Carley's birth stats in the 'rough_typewriter' font and attached it to the upper right corner of the frame.

Also the top of the frame, I used some letter brads (which I removed the prongs from) and hot glued them to some ivory ribbon that I had attached to the top.  In the top left corner, I added a flower that my grandmother crocheted which gives this frame even more sentimental value to me. :)

I added some pink ric-rac to the top and bottom of the frame and also added some red glitter glue to the red flowers in the patterned paper.  I added this paper on the sides and inked the edges and the frame all around.  I used my Creative Memories tearing tool and added a red strip of paper to the very bottom of the frame for some color.

I used the Creative Memories Stork's Delivery cartridge to cut the "Love at 1st Sight" sentiment.....which has a 'heart' included in the cut!  And yep, that's pretty much how it was.....I was in LOVE with her before she was here and even more so after she was here! :)

To finish off the frame, I added some heart shaped pearls to the bottom.....they reminded me of my heart, my husband's heart, and Carley's heart....our family! Funny story to tell......my hubby most of the time usually tells me that my projects are "nice" or "cool".....he supports my crafting but is not one to get 'too' excited about anything I've created....ha!  But this frame.....he really "liked"!  Yay! :)
It made my heart warm and fuzzy!  :)  Awww!

Hope all of you have a great Valentines' Day and get to spend it with those you love!

(charms, my choice - die cut, & flowers)

(Had never used my pressed grass paper!)

Crafty Designers Day at Craft Junkie Too ~~ Valentines' Day Treats!

Well hello everyone!  Can you believe it's almost the end of January already and will be Valentines' Day soon??  OMGoodness.....I'm so excited that today's theme for the Crafty Designers Day at Craft Junkie Too was create a Valentines' Day project for a class (cards, treats, etc.)....something that's easy to mass produce!

Well last year I created the recycled papertowel roll treats for Carley's class & teachers at daycare!  They they turned out so cute I thought.  And since that post (at the time, I could not recall where I 'lifted' the idea for them), I do remember now of course where I got the idea for them.....I just ironically didn't know that just a few short months later, I'd be on that crafty person's team!! :)  Thanks Tracy!  :)

So this year, I wanted to create something different (even though my hubby has fussed all year long about me saving papertowel rolls! ha!)  Now, I have to give credit where credit is due on this year's Valentine treat.....and I wanted to create an easily mass produced treat! So I was browsing all my crafty friends' blogs for ideas and found this treat on Nikki's blog, Crafty Nikki. She has some awesome stuff!

Of course, these really weren't that hard to reproduce.....it's just that I LOVE to embellish and well, that was a lot of detail.....but that's what it's about right!?!  Valentines' Day.....LOVE?  :)  You could definitely go much simpler on these and use already patterend cardstock, or stickers, etc. but like I said, I LOVE to embellish and detail!

So first of all, I want to give credit as well to Karen at Papercraft Memories for the wordart I used to create the tags for these treats!  She has some amazing stuff over there....check out her blog!

So here's all the pieces it took to create these treats that I made.....all 19 of them! I know, why such an odd number.....well......I sorta had to sample some of the candy so therefore there were only 19 left! ha!  But really, that's exactly how many people I had listed as well.  But actually I'll probably make a few more, but will have to get more candy of course to do so!  :)

I loved the idea that Nikki had for these treats, but I did change the measurements up a little for mine.....I basically started with 8.5" x 11"sheets of red, pink, and white cardstock and cut them in half lengthwise.  I used my Creative Memories corner punch as well on these.  Then I scored them from each end at 4.25" and folded them to create a tent card.  Then I simply used several patterned 12x12 Valentine papers and cut them into 3x4 rectangles and attached matching ones on each side of the cards.....yup, that was 38 of them I cut! :)

I used two cartridges for my heart images.  For the top layer hearts with the initials and the word "from:", I cut them at 2.25" from the Simply Sweet cartridge.  I just cut each initial for each child and teacher they were for, then I ran them thru my Cuttlebug in the Distressed Stripes folder for added texture.  Then I cut the 'frilly' bottom layer hearts at 2.5" from the Doodlecharms cartridge.  Who knew that they were the same shaped heart? :)

There were the yummy treats that I attached with a glue dot on the inside of the tent cards! :) After putting these on the inside, I also cut a strip of red tulle a little wider than the treat and slid it behind the candy so there was a little showing on the sides.....sorta like a bowtie! (You can sorta see it in the picture below.)

I assemble the layered hearts then attached them to the cards/treats.  I punched holes with my Crop-A-Dile, then tied on some almost ALL of my Cherry Red Traditional Bakers Twine from My Craft Spot!  Aggh, will have to get more!  :)

I attached the 'from:' hearts onto the back of the treats and stamped a small heart and wrote Carley's name on them.

Here's the side view of their yummy, cute treats! :)

This one is Carley's of course.....she had to have one from mommy too! :)  But here is where I used the wordart from Karen and just simply printed these cute "A friend loveth at all times" tags off onto white cardstock, trimmed them, used my corner punch on them, and then my Fiskars circle punch on the bottom of them...under the verse.  Of course, these were all for her 'friends'!

The pink tags below (even though the picture makes them look purple), I made with my Creative Memories tag punch and again, printed wordart from Karen.....saying "Thank you for loving me".....these went on the ones for her teachers. :)

These are the teachers' treats!  I love them!!

I hope all of her friends and teachers love them too!  They'll have a little Valentine party on Valentines' Day at her daycare so I plan to go and give these out....since I don't have school on Tuesdays! :)

I hope these inspired you to create some 'loving' projects and come back anytime!  Be sure to check out the other designers' treats as they have some really cool ideas to share! :)

Happy Crafting!
