Crafty Designers' Day at Craft Junkie Too - Green & Gold!

Hello everyone!
It's nearing the end of February already and soon it will be St Patty's Day! :)  And this holiday is the inspiration for our next challenge/theme for Crafty Designers Day at Craft Junkie Too!  We were asked to create something with the colors Green & Gold in honor of St Patrick's Day coming up in a few weeks!  Well, I started to create a "lucky" project, but instead created some birthday cards for my grandparents!  They are in their "golden" years so it was appropriate I thought!  :)

So my grandfather's birthday was Feb 1st and my grandmother's is today!  :)  Happy Birthday to you both!  I love you very much!  So onto my cards....

I know my grandfather's birthday was first, but I must go with ladies first, right??  :)  So this is the card I made for my grandmother......she loves to knit, crochet, paint, and all sorts of crafty stuff.  I guess you could say that she is my inspiration when it comes to crafting......even though she is 85, has COPD and is on oxygen, she still is on the go when she can and is always making something beautiful.  For example, she has made me a slew of little flowers to use in my projects and they are so special to me!  But I know, I know....onto the card! :)

I used the Country Life cartidge for the images on this card and printed the sentiment for the inside.

I finished it off with some cute brown ribbon and a bow!  I also added a strip of the coordinating paper from the card to the envelope after punching it with my Martha Stewart Doily Punch.

Then for my grandfather’s birthday, I of course made a card suited for him too……one my childhood memories with my grandparents was going fishing.  He's 87 now and doesn't go fishing anymore, but I knew he'd like this card.  Both of them actually loved to fish and they’d take me fishing with them on their boat when I was a child.  I haven’t gone fishing in so long……gonna have to do that soon with Carley especially! Can’t wait until it gets warm here in NC!  :)

But for his card, I used the Celebrate With Flourish cartridge for the main image and the Creative Memories Stork’s Delivery for the sentiment tag shape. I added some gold to the reel too!

I used some $1 stamps I had and inked everything in brown and blue then I printed the sentiment for the inside on my computer. For the envelope, I used my Creative Memories fish punch to add some from the coordinating pattern paper.  He loved it!

Thanks so  much for stopping by and don’t forget to check out the other Crafty Designers’ green & gold projects!

A little early.....but

Crafty Designers' Day at Craft Junkie Too - Hearts!

Hello everyone!  Well February seems to be flying by doesn't it?  Next week is Valentines' Day and love is in the air!  Haha!  :)  Well, today's theme for the Crafty Designers Day at Craft Junkie Too was create a project with a "heart" on it!

I've been wanting to make this project for a few weeks now; (actually wanted to enter it into the Word Art Wednesday's Challenge but it didn't happen) and I am so glad now that I made it anyway and incorporated a "heart" into it!  This project definitely touches my heart and seems like it was just yesterday that I was praying for God to give me a child and now my bundle of joy is 2 years old!  This is a picture of Carley now (well actually taken right before her 2nd birthday - Dec 15th!).

My little angel......well most of the time!  ;)

But in the picture above, she was only a day old!  (And yes, her hair was black when she was born and now it's not! ha! :)  Crazy how that happens!)  But I decided to decorate this frame and show how much I love her! I incorporated a verse from 1 Samuel....."For this child I prayed; and the Lord hath given me my petition which I asked of Him."  1 Samuel 1:27  KJV

Behind the verse, I used some crinkled pressed grass paper for a layered effect.  On the verse, I used my pinking shears to trim the edges and inked them with brown ink.  Then I used glossy accents and some glitter glue to stiffen the cardstock and used pop-dots for dimension.  Below, I used the same cardstock, ink, glitter glue & pop dots and typed Carley's birth stats in the 'rough_typewriter' font and attached it to the upper right corner of the frame.

Also the top of the frame, I used some letter brads (which I removed the prongs from) and hot glued them to some ivory ribbon that I had attached to the top.  In the top left corner, I added a flower that my grandmother crocheted which gives this frame even more sentimental value to me. :)

I added some pink ric-rac to the top and bottom of the frame and also added some red glitter glue to the red flowers in the patterned paper.  I added this paper on the sides and inked the edges and the frame all around.  I used my Creative Memories tearing tool and added a red strip of paper to the very bottom of the frame for some color.

I used the Creative Memories Stork's Delivery cartridge to cut the "Love at 1st Sight" sentiment.....which has a 'heart' included in the cut!  And yep, that's pretty much how it was.....I was in LOVE with her before she was here and even more so after she was here! :)

To finish off the frame, I added some heart shaped pearls to the bottom.....they reminded me of my heart, my husband's heart, and Carley's heart....our family! Funny story to tell......my hubby most of the time usually tells me that my projects are "nice" or "cool".....he supports my crafting but is not one to get 'too' excited about anything I've created....ha!  But this frame.....he really "liked"!  Yay! :)
It made my heart warm and fuzzy!  :)  Awww!

Hope all of you have a great Valentines' Day and get to spend it with those you love!

(charms, my choice - die cut, & flowers)

(Had never used my pressed grass paper!)

More Valentine Treats!

Hello everyone!
Well, I've made some more Valentine treats....these are for the kiddos at church!  I was going to make more of the treats that I made last week, but then decided to make something different.....just to change it up a bit!  :)

I had picked up 2 packs of pencils (10ct) to originally include in theValentine treats that I made this year.  They were really cute pencils in assorted colors and patterns for Valentines' Day.  So I began with those.....hmmmmm, what to do with a pencil.  :)  Well, this is what I came up with.  (I didn't photograph all 20, but just three of them instead so you could see more detail on them.)

I decided to make 3x3 cards as my little Valentine cards!  After making them, I realized that the Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog was having a challenge called Valentiny cards so these were perfect for that!  :)

On the front of these cards, I used some very cute tags that I downloaded from Smitten Blog Designs.  They have some really, really cute printable Owl Valentines too that are perfect for pencils, but I had already made these!  :)  On some of these tags, I added 3D stickers I had picked up in the Target $1 bin.  I rounded the corners of them and then added buttons and twine to some of them.  I used my Crop-A-Dile on the side to punch two holes for tying the ribbons.  Then I just added coordinating ribbons to attach the cards to the pencils.

Now on the inside, I just cut the same size tag from white cardstock, and used several different stamps......the heart is a $1 stamp from ACMoore, the "Jesus Loves You" stamp is from Inkadinkado, and the "From:" is from My Craft Spot - Sweet Sentiments Set #2.  Then I just wrote "Carley" with a red pen since she's not exactly old enough to write her own name being 2 and all!  :)

I thought these turned out to be very cute Valentine gifts!  I didn't get these in the picture, but I added a Valentine Smarties candy to the backs of these by just applying a Glue Dot.  I had to add something sweet to them of course!  :)

Thanks for visiting and come back by anytime!
